SYRIA, Kingdom of, Demetrios II, first reign, (146-138 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.01 g, Phoenician standard), Sidon mint, issued year SE 168 = 145-144 B.C., obv. diademed head of Demetrios II to right within dotted border, rev. eagle standing to left, palm branch under far wing, in left field, **HXR* (168) / **PA* monogram, to right **SIDW* over aphlaston, around **BASILEWS DHMHTRIOU*, (S.7055, HSC 970, SC 1954.2b, Essays Mildenberg p. 166.6, Rouvier JIAN V, 1240, HGC 9, 969). About extremely fine and lightly toned.
