THRACE, Philippopolis, various issues all in packets described, including Antoninus Pius, (AD 138-161), AE 32mm, (21.93 g), Pontius Sabinus governor, obv. laureate draped and cuirassed bust to right, rev. river god Hebros reclining right with cornucopiae, (cf.Varbanov 652); another AE 32mm, (21.71 g), obv. laureate head left, rev. river god Hebros reclining left, urn overturned water flows, holding cornucopiae, (cf.Varbanov 653) with green oxidation and obv, engraved as a mirror image letters and legend retrograde; third coin, similar AE 27mm, (10.16 g), obv. radiate head to right, rev. Apollo, standing left, holding patera over flaming altar, (Varbanov 741) (illustrated); fourth coin, Marcus Aurelius, (AD 161-180), AE 20mm, (3.89 g), obv. laureate bust right, rev. she wolf right suckling twins Remus and Romulus, (Varbanov 844 corrected and 844 obv. and rev. legends are incorrect, very rare) (illustrated). Very good - good very fine, first two worn, second with green active oxidation, all rare - very rare. (4)
