MC AND BAR AND MID GROUP OF FIVE TO WIA: Military Cross (GRI) with Bar; 1914 Star, - clasp - 5th Aug.-22nd Nov. 1914; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-1919 with MID; Defence Medal 1939-45. First and fifth medals unnamed as issued, the fourth medal an unnamed replacement, 6004 Sjt: T.L.Boden. C. Gds: on second medal, Capt T.L.Boden. on the third medal. The named medals impressed. Display mounted, cleaned fine - good very fine.

MC: Supplement to LG 1/1/1917, p29 - to Lt. (temp. Capt.) Thomas Leonard Boden, Midd'x R.^Bar to MC: Supplement to LG 16/8/1917, p8354 - to Capt. Thomas Leonard Boden, M.C., Midd'x R.^Citation: For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. As Adjutant, he led two companies through heavy fire, and showed great skill in his dispositions. He then returned through the barrage, and heroically directed the advance of the remaining companies.^MID: LG 15/6/1916 - details from gazette not sighted.^Thomas Leonard Boden; attested 11Jan1905 at age of 19; to L/Cpl 26Apr1907; to Cpl 05Jan1912; to L/Sgt 03Jul1912; to Sgt 10Jun1914; to be 2/Lieut 01Oct1914; to Lieut 22Feb1915; to Adjutant 02Dec1915; to Temp. Capt 29Jan1916; 23Apr1917 Lt. Col. A.G.Dawson was KIA and Capt Adjutant T.L.Boden MC took command, and shortly after was badly WIA by shrapnel and lost his arm; 21Nov1919 retired. ^With research.
