BUCHANANS WHISKEY GLAZED EARTHENWARE DECANTER, WWI period in shape of a military shell, in navy blue and pale blue (approx 22cm high), base marked, 'James Green & Nephew/Queen Victoria St London/Patent No.12748/8. Septr 1916.' (the retailers) and by the maker, 'Copeland Spode', with moulds on both sides, on one side it depicts a ship with the name 'Sydney' below and on the opposite side it depicts a soldier wearing a slouch hat standing to attention with a WWI vintage aeroplane overhead. Missing dome top lid, otherwise extremely fine.

This decanter was sold to raise funds for the war effort.
