AUSTRALIA, souvenir from Japanese Midget Submarine sunk in Sydney Harbour on 31 May 1942 together with official certificate of guarantee; another souvenir from the same Japanese Midget Submarine, but original certificate lost and with a handwritten certification, the metal fragment has impressed Japanese text on it (see a similar piece sold in our Sale 125 [lot 389]); postcards relating to the recovery of the midget submarines (3); booklet titled 'No Cause For Alarm - Submarine attacks on Sydney and Newcastle May - June 1942', issued by Department of Veterans' Affairs in 2002, soft cover, 43pp with several b&w photos; Wartime, the official magazine of the Australian War Memorial, Issue 6 Winter 1999, featuring The Epic Voyage and search for AE2 and also the story of the Japanese midget submarine attacks on Australia in WWII, pp28-33; newspaper cutting on history of midget submarine attack in Sydney Harbour.
