TRENCH ART, ceremonial gong crafted from base of a Japanese artillery shell (base diameter approx 17cm), with markings, F, 10, crossed cannons, S in triangle and Japanese characters, at the top there is a short chain added which attaches to a timber frame, together with a brass rod with a ball at the end for ringing the gong, the ball is felt covered, the brass rod also has a loop at one end for hanging on the back of the timber frame. Needs cleaning, otherwise fine. (3 parts)
