TUC ORGANISING SERVICES CENTENARY BADGE, 1834-1934, in bronze (hexagonal 27.5x31mm), with ring top suspension, missing pin-back suspension bar (Organising Services/T.U.C.), badge obverse, a convict watching a sailing ship depart with the 'Crux constellation' (Southern Cross) at top left, reverse, plain (on the TUC badge, TUC/Dorsetshire/Labourers/Centenary/1834-1934). Oxidation spot at left edge, otherwise very fine.

The Tolpuddle Martyrs were six 19th century agricultural labourers from Dorset who were arrested for swearing a secret oath as members of the Friendly Society of Agricultural Labourers and then tried, convicted and sentenced to transportation to Australia for the crime of trying to form a union.
