NETHERLANDS, Gelderland, silver ducaton (Rider), c1680, ex wreck of Meeresteijn. Cleaned, good.

Retrieved from the wreck of the Meeresteijn, part of the fleet of the VOC (Dutch East India Company), that sank off the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa on 3 April 1702. The wreck was rediscovered and salvaged in the early 1970's.
