BEST SHOT OF VICTORIAN MILITARY FORCES MEDAL, engraved 1894 on lower reverse. Edwin C.Jewell Lance Corporal "F" Coy. Vict. Rangers. Impressed. Toned extremely fine and extremely rare.

Only three examples of this medal are known to exist, one unnamed and two named.
Edwin Campbell Jewell, best shot of Victorian Military Forces "F" Coy Victorian Rangers; Jewell served in 1st Victorian Contingent to Boer War and at that time was aged 34 and a farmer from 'Clovelly', Bridgewater near Inglewood, Vic; RTA and arrived 26Aug1900 being invalided home with dysentery and ague and awarded a pension; unfortunately Jewell became an alcoholic and treated his wife cruelly; while he was an inmate of the Lara Inebriate Home a decree nisi was granted to his soon to be ex-wife.
