GROUP OF FOUR: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19; Royal Naval Long Service and Good Conduct Medal (GVR in Admiral's uniform). 211923 T.E.Hancock. P.O., R.N. on first medal, other medals unnamed replicas. The named medal impressed. Good very fine.
The group mounted in a lift lid box (approx 30.5x20.5x2cm), with perspex in the lid for viewing and with two photos relating to the AN&MEF in 1914 and the basic service history of Petty Officer Hancock.
Thomas Frederick Hancock, cook, born 17Oct1884 at Curragh Camp, an army base in The Curragh, County Kildare, Ireland; Enl.17Oct1902 in Royal Navy; various postings rising from Boy 2Cl to Petty Officer; Trf/Exchange to RAN 05Mar1912; served on HMAS Yarra 31Jul1912 to 12Jun1915 including with A.N.&M.E.F. for attack on German radio Station at Simonshafen in Sep1914; served on HMAS Torrens 01Jul1916 to 05May1918; returned to Royal Navy 06May1918; to Chief Petty Officer 01Jan1923; pensioned 16Oct1924.
