GROUP OF SIX: 1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Pacific Star; War Medal 1939-45; Australia Service Medal 1939-45; Tobruk Siege Medal. The first three medals unnamed, 22211 F.J.F.Favaloro. on fourth and fifth medals, F.Favalora (sic) on last medal. The fourth and fifth medals impressed, the sixth medal engraved. The second medal with a few small oxidation spots, otherwise very fine - good very fine.

Felix James Frederick Favaloro, pastry cook, born 24Aug1916 at Malvern, Vic; Enl.14Jun1938 at Melbourne, Vic; various postings including HMAS Cerberus as Sick Berth Attendant, HMAS Stuart 14Apr1940 to 31Mar1941 finishing as A/Leading SBA, HMAS Lonsdale, HMAS Cerberus to Leading SBA and then A/SB/PO, HMAS Adelaide finally as SB/PO, HMAS Penguin and HMAS Melville; Disch.13Jun1950 as SB/CPO (Sick Berth Chief Petty Officer) ex HMAS Lonsdale; Died 1991 at Mount Eliza, Vic.
This is a rare RAN 'Scrap Iron Flotilla', Tobruk Siege, HMAS Stuart group to SB/CPO F.J.F.Favaloro who served on the Tobruk Ferry, 'HMAS Stuart', during the capture of Bardia. HMAS Stuart led the 10th Destroyer Flotilla at the Battle of Calabria. She also was involved in the evacuations of Greece and Crete and more than 24 runs to the besieged garrison at Tobruk as well as other notable actions.
