FRANCE, Voyage round the world by the corvette "La Coquille" 1822, bronze gilt 51mm by De Puymaurin, plain edge original striking, bust of Louis XVIII by Andrieu facing right, rev. legend in nine lines (MH 189). Extremely fine.

Voyage included visits to Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea. The object was scientific investigation, plus to report on the possibility of establishing a French penal colony in Western Australia.
