Charles Clare Whitmey, born 25Jan1914 at London, England; Enl.22May1934 at Melbourne, Vic in RAN (19977) and to Stoker II; to Stoker 22May1935; in original crew when HMAS Parramatta II commissioned 08Apr1940; to A/Ldg Sto 01Aug1941; KIA 27Nov1941 when HMAS Parramatta II, part of the 'Tobruk Ferry Service' running supplies into Tobruk during the siege, was sunk in the Mediterranean Sea by German U'boat U-559 with the loss of 138 officers and men; commemorated at the Plymouth Naval Memorial.^With research.
