SCOTLAND, Hurlet, Renfrewshire, J. & J.W. five shillings countermarked on a Mexico City mint eight reales 1799 with additional three dot triangle countermark, type 1 (Manville 64a, coin 5 of 10 known) (Davis 104a). Nearly extremely fine and very rare.

Issuer is John Wilson coal merchant.^Ex Glendinings 24 Sep 1970 (lot 641).^Ex J. Peters (USA) 16 June 1973 (lot 1243) and W.J. Noble Collection (not in sale 58b). This specimen illustrated in KM cc63, p.1094.
