PRINCE ALFRED COLLEGE, prize medal in gold (18ct; 10.90g; 27mm), by H.Steiner, Adelaide, leaf and ring top suspension, obverse inscribed, 'P.A.C/Half Mile/1890', reverse inscribed, 'Won by/M A Boucaut'. Hairlines, otherwise extremely fine.

Max Arthur Boucaut, the son of Judge Sir James Penn Boucaut, a well known identity in South Australia, was a student at Prince Alfred College from 1889 to 1894 and as captain of the school's football team he was presented with a medal in 1884. The medal for the half mile race in 1890 was presented to him by A.L.Brukhorst who had bought the H.Steiner business by 1884.
