SOUTH AUSTRALIA AMATEUR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION, prize fob in gold (9ct; 3.83g; 27x27mm), scroll and ring top suspension, obverse inscribed, 'S.A/A.A.A', reverse inscribed, 'Boxing/Championship/Bantam Weight/Winner/A.H.Barrey./1923'. Small dent at base, otherwise toned very fine.

This competition was held at Victoria Hall, Gawler, South Australia on 3, 10 and 17 October 1923. A.H.Barrey had to fight hard against C.A.Sanders in four rounds and then R.D.Underwood in another four rounds before he won the bantam-weight championship. He punished Sanders severely but was unable to deliver a knockout blow and against Underwood he had the advantage of a longer reach.
