SHEFFIELD SHIELD, prize medal in voided gold (9ct; 9.53g; 24mm), by Blashki & Son, ring top suspension, reverse inscribed, 'Won By/N.S.W./M.A.Noble/1897.'; Sheffield Shield Trophy 1892, prize medal in gold (15ct; 11.17g; 29x31mm), ring top suspension, reverse inscribed, 'won by/N.S.W/M.A.Noble/Season/1903-4'; another identical medal in gold (15ct; 10.73g; 29x31mm), ring top suspension, reverse inscribed, 'won by/N.S.W/M.A.Noble/Season/1904-5'. Nearly extremely fine. (3)

Montague Alfred Noble, was an all-round cricketer who played for NSW and Australia. He is considered one of the great Australian all-rounders. He represented Australia in 42 tests, 39 against England and 3 against South Africa, and captained the team on 15 occasions. After his test career he coached and played at club level including at Paddington Cricket Club. In his business career he moved from banking to dentistry and in 1925 published his exegesis on cricket titled Gilligan's Men, a critical review of the M.C.C. tour of Australia in 1924-25. In 2006 he was inducted into the Cricket Hall of Fame by Cricket Australia and in 2021 he was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame as one of the special inductees. The M.A.Noble Stand at the Sydney Cricket Ground is named in his honour.
