LAUNCESTON RIFLE CLUB, prize medal in gold (15ct; 8.75g; 28.5x29mm), by Piper, ring top suspension, reverse inscribed, 'Champion Aggrte/1907-8/Won By/J.Walkem/Score 1075/H.P.S 1260'. Extremely fine.

A report in The Mercury (Hobart, Tas) on Tuesday 4 February 1908, page 8, reads, 'In the contest of the Launceston Rifle Club for the Gardner trophy, J.Miller secured first place, and J.Walkem second. The champion gold medal for the four best scores in the A, B, and C series of the club, without handicaps, was won by J.Walkem, with the fine score of 1,075 out of a possible 1,260.'^Launceston is the largest city in northern Tasmania.
