ST IGNATIUS COLLEGE, 1908, prize medal in gold (9ct; 7.11g; 34x35mm), by E.B, ring top suspension, reverse inscribed, 'Class Championship/1st Prize/Edgar Rouse'. Extremely fine.

Edgar John Rouse was a businessman and philanthropist. He was born at Darling Point, Sydney on 24 October 1894 and was educated at St Ignatius College, Riverview. During his lifetime he established many fellowships, professorships and scholarships. He shared the initial gold medal awarded in 1961 by the Faculty of Radiologists in England. He was awarded various honorary fellowships and was awarded honorary membership of the Australian Medical Association and radiographical societies in England, Australia and New Zealand. He was appointed CBE in 1969 and when he died in 1974 his body was bequeathed to the University of Melbourne.
