UNIDENTIFIED MEMBERSHIP BADGE, Sydney District, in gold (9ct; 9.85g; 24mm), with scroll and ring top suspension, reverse inscribed, 'E.G.M.Baker./160/8/11/11'. Good very fine.

Probably E.G.M.Baker who was born in Sydney and taken to England in infancy and educated at St Paul's Canonbury and Wesley College, North London. He returned to NSW with his parents and joined the Government Service in 1898. He was licensed as Court shorthand-writer by the Chief Justice of Victoria and appointed Supreme Court reporter in NSW by Sir Charles Wade. He was appointed to Hansard in 1912. In 1934 he was appointed chief of the Hansard staff in the NSW Parliament.
