THRACE, Kingdom of, Lysimachos, (323-281 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.12 g), Lampsacus Mint, issued 297/6-282/1 B.C., obv. head of Alexander to right, (eye looking forwards) with diadem and horn of Ammon, within dotted circle, rev. Athena enthroned to left, supporting Nike, resting left elbow on shield, shield with lion's head, torch in inner left field, beneath throne eight-rayed star, to right **BASILEWS*, to left **LUSIMAXOU*, (cf.S.6814, Thompson 43, SNG Ash. 3724, SNG Cop. 1104 Variety, M.381 [Kyzicos]). Bright with light patination, high reliefs, a full dumpy flan, good very fine/nearly extremely fine and a rare variety.
