MARCUS AURELIUS (A.D. 161-180), AE sestertius, Rome mint, issued 161-162, (24.45 g), obv. M ANTONINVS AVG TR P XXIIII, laureate head to right of Marcus Aurelius to right, rev. SALVTI AVG COS III around, S C across field, Salus standing left, feeding snake twined round altar, (cf.S.4998, RIC 964, C.544). Attractive bronze patination, good very fine and rare in this condition.

Ex Morvzzi Numismatica, Rome, Italy with their descriptive ticket (c.1990), a similar example was in our sale 128 (lot 2862, that realised $950).
