GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), AE sestertius, issued 242-3, Rome Mint, (16.78 g), obv. laureate bust to right of Gordian III, draped and cuirassed, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. Gordian standing to right in military attire, holding transverse spear and globe, around PM TR P V COS II PP, SC across, (cf.S.8731, RIC 307a). Dark green patina, good very fine.
