SICILY, Syracuse, (c.485-479 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.860 grams), obv. slow quadriga driven to right by male charioteer, Nike flying right crowning horses, rev. **SUPAKO S I O N* around to right, head of Artemis-Arethusa to right, diadem of beads, four dolphins around, (cf.S.913, Boehringer 146 same dies [obverse 65/reverse 100 dies], Jameson Collection (No.1908 same dies]). Well centred, bright, good very fine/very fine with excellent metal, lightly polished and a very rare die combination.
Boehringer notes only three specimens from these dies. A similar example from the same dies was in our Sale 69 (lot 1732).
