MACEDON, Kingdom of, Demetrios Poliorcetes, (294-288 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.822 grams), Salamis mint, issued 300-295 B..C., obv. Nike blowing trumpet and holding mast to left on prow, rev. Poseidon striding to left brandishing trident and holding chlamys on outstretched left arm, dolphin over star to right in field, monogram of IO to left in field, HP under legs, below **BAS ILE WS*, to right **DHMHTMIOU*, (cf.S.6762, Newell 23, Pl.II, 19, III, 1-4). Toned, test cut on obverse, otherwise very fine and rare.
