THRACE, Tomis, Gordian III and Tranquillina, (A.D. 238-244), AE 25, (10.995 grams), obv. Gordian III laureate draped and cuirassed bust to right facing Tranquillina draped bust to left, around AVT K M ANT **GORDIANO*C AV**G* CE, TPANKV**L/L*EINA in exergue, rev. Zeus to left, wearing himation, holding sceptre and patera, eagle at feet, around MHTPO**PONTO*V TOME**W*C, **D*/C upper left but removed, (S.3796, cf.BMC 59, Pick 3509 [p.888]). Dark green patina, weak in places, very fine/nearly extremely fine and rare.
