IONIA, Chios, (mid 5th century B.C.), silver didrachm, (7.770 grams), obv. Sphinx seated to left, grapes and amphora before, rev. quadripartite incuse square of rough form, (S.4594, BMC 6-11, SNG Cop.1543-5). Holed on edge, very dark tone, very fine and rare.
