SYRIA, Seleucis and Pieria, Antioch ad Orontem, Macrinus, (A.D. 217-218), silver tetradrachm, (13.642 grams), issued 217-218, obv. laureate head of Macrinus to right, around AYT K M O**P* CE MAKPINOC CEB, rev. eagle standing facing on leg and thigh of animal, head to right, wreath in beak, **D* E either side of head, around DHMAPX E**X UPA TO*, (cf.S.2948, Prieur 246 [p.44, knows of 51 examples], Bellinger 39 [ANS Mum. Studies No.3, p.59, Pl.XIII, 3]). Toned, with dark brown black patina, extremely fine and very scarce.
