EGYPT, Kingdom of, Ptolemy II, (285-246 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (14.130 grams), Tyre mint, obv. head of Ptolemy I to right wearing aegis, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, in front club and **TRU* monogram, to right **L* over AB monogram, around **[BASILEWS] PTOLEMAIOU*, (cf.S.7773, Sv.660, BMC 84, cf.SNG Cop 488). Toned, reverse off centred and surface marks on the reverse, otherwise very fine and very scarce.

Ex Allan Sutherland Collection and Wayte Raymond, New York with marked packet purchased in 1933 for $2.50US.
