JOHN II, (A.D. 1118-1143), gold hyperpyron, Thessalonica Mint, (4.38 g), obv. IC-XC to left and right of Christ seated facing on backless throne, right hand raised, rev. around +IW-DECPOTH, QV-MR, facing half-length figures of Mary, nimbate, on right, and John, holding a patriarchal cross between them, hand of god above John's head, (S 1947, BMC 15-16). Good very fine - nearly extremely fine.
