CALABRIA, Tarentum, (c. 272-240 BC) silver nomos (6.59 g), obv. nude youth riding horse walking to left, raising his right hand to crown the horse's head, rev. Taras riding dolphin facing left, preparing to throw trident, chlamys on left hand, owl standing left, head facing to right (cf. S,374, HN Italy 1025, Vl. 839). Attractive cabinet tone with golden hues in recesses, extremely fine.
