CRETE, Koinon of Crete, Vespasian, (A.D. 69-79), (AE 3.72 g), AE 19, COS VIII = A.D. 77, obv. Vespasian laureate head right around traces of AYT KAI OYE YA TO H, rev. Artemis rushing right, holding bow and drawing arrow from quiver, (S.-, RPC II 12 (same dies), Svoronos, Numismatique 44). Fine - very fine, dark green patina, very rare with a fascinating and charming reverse of Diana the Huntress. Very rare.

Ex Spink & Sons, London with their ticket for ?58, listed in the Numismatic Circular No. 30 (Feb. 1978) at ?95.
