PALESTINE, Roman Procurator of Judaea, Valerius Gratus under Tiberius, (A.D. 15-26), copper prutah, (1.820 grams), obv. within a wreath, traces of a Greek inscription, IOY **LIA, (Julia, is a reference to Julia Livia, mother of Tiberius), rev. three lilies in bloom flanked by date [L **G*], L**G* = year 3 = A.D. 16, (S.5615, H.642 [107], AJC II Supplement V, No.12, Meshorer 223). Off centred on the reverse, weak in places, has been cleaned, otherwise fine and rare.
