PALESTINE, Roman Procurator of Judaea, Valerius Gratus under Tiberius, (A.D. 15-26), copper prutah, (2.108 grams), obv. vine leaf with a bunch of grapes, above [IOY**LIA], rev. narrow-neck amphora with scroll handles, flanked by date [L] **D*, (L**D* = year 4 = A.D. 17), (S.5618, H.643 [108], AJC II Supplement V, No.16, Meshorer 224). Dark tone, weak in places, otherwise good fine with a clear date reading, rare.
