Lot 1159    SESSION 7 (9.30AM WEDNESDAY 26TH NOVEMBER)    World Silver & Bronze Coins

Estimate $80
Bid at live.noble.com.au

INDONESIA, Sumatra, (early 17th century), tin pitis, octagonal type and hoard type, crude Javanese inscription (cf Mitchiner 3963). Good very fine; nearly extremely fine. (2)

Mitchiner suggests the inscription be read as a corrupted 'Sultan Siyak', however Perdana has recently proposed 'pangeran adipati' - princely duke- as a better translation, given the Jambi record of producing coins with Javanese inscriptions.

Estimate / sale price does not include buyer's premium (currently 22% including GST) which is added to hammer price. All bids are executed on the understanding that the Terms & Conditions of sale have been read and accepted. For information on grading and estimates please refer to the Buying at Auction advice.
