PAPHLAGONIA, Sinope, (c.230-200 B.C.), gold stater, (8.49 g), in the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon, obv. helmeted head of Athena right, rev. Nike standing left, holding wreath and stylis, to left, kantharos above monogram, to right **[A]LEXANDPOU*, (S.-, Price 1218 var. (monogram), Newell, Sinope -, HGC 7, 383). A few surface marks, good very fine with traces of mint bloom, extremely rare and an unpublished variety.
