SKANDAGUPTA, (c.A.D. 455-480), gold stater, (7.760 grams), dynastic or king and queen type, obv. to right the king Skandagupta facing Lakshmi, lotus hehind her and Garuda standard between them, rev. goddess Lakshmi seated facing on a lotus, to right Brahmi legend, (cf.Altekar Bayana hoard plate XXXII, 3; BMC 23 [Pl.XIX, 6-9], cf.M.4866). Porous flan with smoothed edge, appears to have been mounted, otherwise nearly very fine and rare.
