SYRIA, Kingdom of, Alexander I Balas, (150-45 BC), silver tetradrach (15.27g), Antioch on the Orontes mint, dated SE 165 (148/7 BC), obv. diademed head of Alexander I Balas right, rev. Zeus Nikephoros seated left, holding Nike in outstretched right hand, who is corwning Zeus, PAT monogram in left field, **EXR* (date) and HAPK monogram in exergue, **BASILEWS ALECANDROY QEOPATROS EUERGETOU* to left and right (SC 1784.3d; HCG 9 SC 1784). Surface marks, particularly on obverse, scattered porosity, very fine.
