PORTUGUESE INDIA, Diu, Philip III, (1621-1640), copper bazaruco token, 1628, (7.040 grams), obv. crowned shield flanked by symbols, date below 1628, rev. cross in inner circle around [ANTO] TELES D.., (KM.Tn.1). Struck on small flan as usual, otherwise fine and rare.

Antonio Telles de Menezes was the issuer of this token. He was captain of Diu and later Governor of all Portuguese India (1639-1640). Several varieties exist for this issue.
