JULIUS CAESAR, (assassinated 44 B.C.), denarius, Rome Mint, lifetime issue, struck Feb-March 44 B.C., P.Sepullius Macer moneyer, (3.54 g), obv. Caesar's laureate head to right, around CAESAR DICT PERPETVO , rev. P. SEPVLLIVS MACER around, Venus standing left, holding Victory and sceptre resting on star, (cf.S.1412, Cr.480/11, Syd.1072, Alfoldi Type VI, 69 (A11/R20), RSC 40). Lightly toned, areas of weak striking, slight die rust and some evidence of double striking on obverse, very fine or better and scarce in this condition.
