NERO, (A.D. 54-68), AE semis, Rome Mint, issued A.D. 64, (3.24 g), obv. laureate head of Nero to right, around NERO CAES AVG IMP, rev. around CERT QVINQ ROM CON, S.C. in exergue, table, seen from front and right, bearing urn on left and wreath on right, on the front panel, a bas-relief of two sphinxes or gryphons confronted, a round shield resting against table-leg, (S.1979, RIC 241, C 59). Deeply toned, very fine and scarce.
