SEPTIMIUS SEVERUS, (A.D. 193-211), silver denarius (3.05g), Emesa mint, issued 194 AD, obv. laureate head facing right, IMP CAE L SEP [SEV PER]T AVG COS III, rev. Severus in military dress, pracing on horseback left, holding a spear, SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI around. Dark toned, small flan chip at 7 o'clock, very fine.

Ex S.J. Green Collection, purchased from Noble Numismatics Sale 116 (lot 4734 part). Previously ex Dr. V.J.A. Flynn Collection, from A.H. Baldwin & Sons Ltd.
