SEVERUS ALEXANDER, (A.D. 222-35), silver denarius (3.52g), Rome mint, issued 222-4 AD, obv. laureate hand draped bust right, IMP C M AVR SEV ALEXAND AVG around, rev. Jupiter, nude, standing facing, head left, holding thunderbolt and scepter, IOVI CONSERVATORI (S.7868; RIC IV 141; RSC 70). Chipped edges between 9 and 12, otherwise nicely toned, nearly extremely fine.
Ex S.J. Green Collection, purchased from Heritage Auctions 231622 (lot 61052). Previously in a slab by NGC as Ch AU (certificate number 4247655-066).
