GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-44), silver antoninianus (5.56g), Rome mint, issued 241-3 AD, obv. radiate and draped bust right, IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG around, rev. Jupiter standing, facing, head to right, leaning on sceptre and holding thunderbolt, IOVI STATORI around (S.8615; RIC IV 84; RSC 109); another (4.32g), rev. Sol standing left, raising right hand and holding globe in left, AETERNITATI AVG (S.8603; RIC IV 83; RSC 41). Toning, nearly extremely fine; good very fine. (2)
