GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-44), orichalcum sestertius (19.72g), Rome mint, 5th officina, 9th emission, issued 241 AD, obv. laureate, draped, and cuirassed bust right, IMP PIVS GORDIANVS FEL AVG around rev. Apollo seated left, holding branch and resting elbow on lyre, PM TR P IIII COS II P P around, SC in exergue (c.f. S.8730; RIC IV 302; Banti 72). Dark brown patina, very fine.
