MOURNING BROOCH, c1870, in gold (18ct; 22.02g; 49x42mm), by H St (Henry Steiner), features an oval centrepiece of a gold inlay of a flower on jet black with a surrounding frame decorated with engraving and raised flowers, the reverse has a compartment under glass for inserting a photograph, pin-back with safety chain, with unofficial box. A few marks on jet black, otherwise extremely fine.
