PEARL BROOCH, c1930, in gold (18ct; 9.53g; 30mm), by EWS (Edward William Saranealis), features a crescent with raised centrepiece with a star in the crescent, all decorated with pearls, pin-back with safety chain, with Hardy Bros Ltd case. Extremely fine.

Edward William Saranealis was born on Thursday Island, Queensland. Thursday Island was a pearling centre and Saranealis's father operated a pearling, jewellery and watch making business. When his father died in 1919 Edward carried on the family business.^Australian Jewellers, p108 and 109.
