CONVICT LOVE TOKEN, on a 1797 cartwheel penny with the reverse shaved smooth, on the reverse side is stipple engraved, "When/this you see/think on me./When I am far/away./J.Robinson/1827". Edge nick, otherwise fine.

James Robinson, aged 19, an apprentice penknife cutter, was sentenced to life in the colonies for highway robbery. He arrived in Van Diemen's Land on 7 December 1827. With research.
