MEXICO, Ferdinand VI, (1746-1759), silver eight reales, 1753, (18.64g), salvaged from the wreck of the Doddington (KM.104). Salt water damaged particularly on the obverse, fine.

Ex Alan McRae Collection, with his display plaque.^^The Doddington was an East Indiaman of the EIC, which wrecked off Bird Island, near Port Elizabeth in South Africa on the 17th July 1755, whilst carrying "Clive of India's Gold".
