GREAT BRITAIN, Queen Anne, 1709, Exchequer Bill for ?100, interest at 2d per day, for enlarging the capital stock of the Bank of England, signed Halifax with embossed exchequer seal bottom right, ink cancellation on face, slight nibble on right margin. Very fine and scarce, an important piece.

Signed by Charles Montagu, 1st Earl of Halifax (1661-1715), Chancellor of the Exchequer in 1694, and Auditor from 1699.^^Private purchase from Colin Narbeth $ Son Ltd, previously from Spink Auction 11020 (7th Dec 2011) (lot 265). ^
